Julia, my long lost pen pal

So for whatever reason, today on the way to work I start thinking about Julia, my long lost penpal.  Somehow (I'm sketchy on the details since I was about 7 at the time), this pen pal was given to me through my first grade teacher.  When I got her letters and gifts as a child, I felt so special. I thought it was equally cool that she was from New York, which seemed so exotic for a 1st grader from rural Kentucky. I fancied her so much, I named my Cabbage Patch doll after her.

After I started thinking about her this morning, I thought it would be fun to look her up online.  So far, not much success, but I will keep trying. 

Then I started thinking how fun it would be for Maddy to have a pen pal. So again, I start googling.  Man, how times have changed. Not a lot of reputable sites out there for pen pals that don't scream CHILD MOLESTER! I will continue to look, but am open to suggestions if anyone has any ideas!
